Crenellated Hearts

During the month of November, VALISE gallery hosts VALISE members H. L. Timken and Jiji Saunders in a venue that will pry open the portcullis that defends the crenellated heart. The artists will explore vulnerability and love with objects sacred and mundane, prints, encaustic horizons, anachronism, and allegory. Somewhere in the fortification will be Butoh theater, too, with Jyl Brewer, dancing with dough. Say what?
Hint: Artistic growth requires risk taking and exposing vital organs. Think of the installation as a fable that warns us that when we love, we are most vulnerable to the treachery of our guardians. You can delve deeply, or just enjoy pretty stuff hanging on the walls.
The opening reception is First Friday, November 5 from 6 to 9. VALISE gallery is open Saturdays from 11 to 5 and by appointment.
