In the Valise Gallery for September, new works by two old friends will be on display.
Vashon artist and Valise member, Terri Fletcher, will create an installation in the gallery of vintage dinner napkins that have been dyed and printed and hand stitched with recipes from a 19th century handwritten cook book. Dishes from the book will be served at the opening.
Terri’s long time friend from Austin, Texas, ceramic artist
Rebecca Roberts, will be showing her new sculptural bowls, tools and wall forms. Rebecca also conducted a hands-on clay experience at Valise Gallery on Sunday September 5th at 1 pm. The clay experience was a community opportunity to explore touching the earth in a new way and to learn a bit about the nature of clay. Participants used one of the most intimate forming methods and shared the results with each other.
